Alternative Music Box : What is it ?
Worldwide, there are thousands of artists self-producing their albums because the record companies, with the best will in the world, can't take the risk to produce all of them ( sometimes the companies are simply deaf too ! ). We bring those artists to you through Internet.
From techno to jazz or from rock to new age, all music styles are here on the Box ...
You wont find any HOME MADE Productions' music in the records stores : All of those records are "collectors" that you could be one of the firsts owners . The ONLY WAY to buy artists' records is to press the "ORDER" button at the top of each page to send your order form, with payment, by mail.
We freely give you one or two tracks of each album in ".aif" format (for MACINTOSH) or ".wav" format (for PC) so you can decide if it's cool or not : listen to them, they could be tomorrow's stars !
How it works
It' s very simple. Choose your music styles and, in each ones, you' ll find some artists : you' ll read few words about them, you' ll see their albums' sleeves and you' ll download pieces of their music and listen to it in ".aif" format for Macintosh or in ".wav" format for PC.
- To fully use the Alternative Music Box
(but it' s not obligatory), I recommend you the NETSCAPE 2.0 browser with LIVE AUDIO plug-in : you can download them and some others multimedia accessories from our "GO TO..." platform for MACINTOSH or for WINDOWS.
- If you never listened to sound from the WEB
and you have no LIVE AUDIO plug-in, configure your browser (Netscape: menu Options / Preferences / "Helpers Applications") so it can open one of your sounds applications (Quicktime player, SoundApp, SOX, WAVany, etc...) : After the downloading of a track, you will directly listen to it.
This track will stick to your hard disk and you' ll do anything you want with it !
News
- The Alternative Music Box will soon support REAL-AUDIO !
With REAL AUDIO ( Netscape 2.0 "plug-in") you will soon have audio real-time listening on the Alternative Music Box through Internet : no need to wait for downloading anymore ! direct listening to artists' tracks...
- Albums to be release :
Some of the crew is working on the "Mysterious Tibetans singing bowls" album recording. They actually are in Nepal to find out ! an incredible sound comes out from those bowls. Check for this album !
This new age and ethnik record should be on the Board in december 96.
An extract from the BEAT-X group album called "Censured" (techno-house) is available on the Board ... Alas ! the record is already sold out ... It will be re-released in march 97 : you must wait until then ... Aaargh !
Some says that YANG' s intrumental piano album ( pure Keith JARRETT' style in "Koln concert" period ) will soon could be finished . To be continued ...
